Santee, SC - September 2 & 3, 2011 – Lake Marion Golf Course hosted its 3rd Annual Patriot Golf Day Tournament in conjunction with PGA of America. Proceeds from the tournament are given to the Folds of Honor Foundation which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service to our great nation.
Lake Marion's participation with Patriot Golf Day started in 2007 with a small container on the pro shop counter for golfers to donate at least $1. The results were overwhelming. So much so, in 2009 the club decided it wanted to do more to help the Folds of Honor Foundation. The first tournament was organized in just three weeks and the event raised $3,200. In 2010, the tournament raised $11,500. Participation and interest increased so dramatically, the club had to host three separate shotgun tournaments this year. The end result was a donation of nearly $14,000 to the Foundation.

- Three shotgun tournaments
- 340 players total for the weekend
- VFW opening ceremonies to the flag
- Prizes and cookout for all shotguns
- Raffle with over $3,000 in products given away
- Over 30 volunteers from VFW, Kiwanis Club and other local businesses
- All proceeds donated directly to Folds of Honor
- 50/50 drawings
- Over 150 businesses and individuals donated monies and or prizes
